I’m just posting this to open up the comments section for thoughts so far about this space as a possible replacement for BL.
Questions:
- Is it easy to use?
- For our two non-WP users (Wanda/Jennifer) is the sign up process easy/difficult/intimidating?
- What elements of site organization are working/which aren’t?
- What do you think about the feed?
I’m finding it easy to use.
Also, I’d just signed up for a WP blog right before we started this test project, and I didn’t find the process difficult at all.
I’m really liking this as a possible BL replacement. The feed reminds me so much of the BL dashboard.
Should we pin this post to the top for a day or two to make sure everyone sees it?
Sure.
Another question – what do people think about inaugurating a new site November 1, with the Festive Tasks game. That might be a really good test opportunity.
I’m good with November 1st. That gives us three weeks to get the domain name, migrate the site, install the privacy and book plug-ins and fix whatever might break during the migration.
Oh, and put the new game together 😀 But we should wait for TA’s feedback as I think she worried that October was going to be vicious for her in RL.
Remember how on BL they had a little feature that made it snow on the feed during the winter. I would be so happy if we could make it do that that for 24 Tasks.
I do! It must be an animated background? Now I have to search… add to the list…
My schedule is already picking up again, and it can turn vicious any moment now — once it does, it probably won’t let up until the end of the year. So let’s make use of my spare time as long as I have it … On those grounds alone, I’m all for pushing towards Nov. 1. I’m not going to be a help to anybody once I’m mired in between a monster int’l arbitration brief (statement of claim) and various proceedings in connection with the criminal whose activities already kept me super-busy in July and August. (Never a dull moment with this guy. * Rolls eyes *)
I’m also a non-WP user and found the sign-up simple enough (I signed up a while ago but never made a WP blog). And I’ve only poked around a little bit, but I’d also say it’s fairly easy to use. I’m overwhelmed and intimidated by the admin tools, though, so feel free to not make me an admin post-migration. LOL
Re: the feed, I like it. It’s easy to scroll through and gives me good BL vibes. I also really like the”Recent Posts” and “Recent Comments” in the side bar as tools to direct people to active conversations.
Yeah, I won’t even go near the admin tools, lol. I’ll leave that to those who know what they’re doing. I’m sure I could learn if needed, but I don’t want to screw anything up.
I am more than happy to test things out and give opinions, though.
I’m finding the process a bit intimidating, but I know that I’ll figure things out. I guess I’ve got out of the habit of figuring out new stuff since I left work. This will prevent me from becoming petrified!
We definitely don’t want a Petrified Wanda! How would you be able to take all of your wonderful bird pictures? Also, petrified people don’t cook…
Exactly!!
Hello and welcome, BT! 😀
I sent you a PM – look up in the upper right hand corner for the notification!
I find it intimidating and I do this for a living. The biggest problem with WP is that it has the potential to be so many things depending on what you need to do with it. Which makes the admin panel look like something that ought to drive the international space station instead of a reading blog. Once we get what we want locked in, it’ll be easier to tell everyone: just focus on these things, ignore everything else.
